 Excerpt:

My parents believed that women should be independent and
capable. What is your thinking along those lines, Mr. Hampton?” she asked,
purposely goading him.

He emitted a long-suffering sigh. “I do find a capable woman
refreshing, Miss Goodwin. I have no qualms with a woman who wishes to be
independent and, moreover, isn't afraid to speak her mind.”

She slid him a glance. “Indeed, I think your aunt is
correct. You are a charmer.”

He shrugged. “A woman can profess to be independent in many
things, but there are still times when a man’s involvement is necessary.”

“That is quite enough, Wesley Hampton,” his aunt spoke.

“Name one,” Jane fired back as she crossed her arms.

“Jane!” Isabella turned in her chair and pinned Jane with a
shocked expression.

Wesley’s mouth curled into a wicked smile. He lifted his
brow and set down his cup. “A conversation left to another day

Review
The Dark Seduction of Miss Jane is one volatile read. It seduces the reader with such enigmatic description of the characters, that the readers stand at  the crossroad of puzzlement and excitement. Though the name of the book is misleading, there is no erotica in this book. Miss Jane is a very bold woman who, despite the constraints of the society during the 19th century England, openly declares the infidelity of her fiance. This causes a social uproar and her fiance's family being rich and of the gentry, she has to leave her aunt and starts working as an investigative journalist.

She lands up in a case of a serial killer and gentlemen's club.In all this Inspector Mansfield is there to protect her.But he is a man with secrets. The case is very dangerous. Not only is the murderer stalking her, but she also starts discovering a dark and seductive side of her own nature.

Inspector Mansfield is also a very interesting character. He has a past. A dark, tortured past for which he blames himself. So to stop the memories from lurking around him, he frequents a discreet Mens' club. It is from this club Miss.Jane gets her first clue.

The attraction between the two characters keeps the reader from wanting more and more. But the best part of the story which I personally liked is definitely the magician......:D

Reasoning

I started this book in a bit of a hurry. By error I had marked my calendar as 2021 :O Well, I don't think Amanda would wait so long for the review. :P but luckily I was checking my schedule and saw that the blog tour was today. Saturday. A family day for me. But, I had to do it. Thankfully, this story caught by attention from the first line. Even being a historical genre, Miss Jane is such a bold and a woman of the 21st century. The characters are well etched and the scenes create visualization for a reader. There are hot scenes no doubt and some might even feel that since glimpses of BDSM is shown in the story, there should be some scene related to that. But, the author sticks to the story and even it gets made into a movie, it will be of Silence of a Lamb genre.
